Daikin VD Series Dual Hydraulic Pump incorporates two types of pumps in a single pump package. This package consists of a V Series pump and a DS Series pump, whereby a single drive motor will feed two hydraulic circuits separately. The piston-pump part is intended for the main pressure circuit. The available choices for the capacity are dependent on the V8, V15 and V38 units, which have theoretical displacements of 8.0, 14.8 and 37.7 cm³/rev, respectively.
The piston pump uses pressure-compensator control. When the pressure becomes equal to the chosen setting, the pump decreases displacement to prevent the unneeded flow. According to Daikin, the pressure adjustment possibilities are from 0.8 to 7 MPa, 1.5 to 14 MPa and 3.5 to 21 MPa, depending on the chosen piston pump type. The vane pump part generates a special discharge flow rate. At Daikin's test results at 1,800 rpm speed, ISO VG32 oil and 40°C temperature of the working medium, the following vane pumps operate differently depending on pressure.
The VD series comes in masses around 13kg in case of use of V8 series pumps, 17.2kg in case of using a V15 series pump and 29kg in case of using V38 series pump. This is based on the Daikin official configurations and may vary depending on the model. In the VD series, the combination of two pumps in a single housing eliminates the need for the separate tandem adapter, drive motor and mounting assembly.
