Moog AXP Axial Piston Hydraulic Pump is a fixed-displacement pump, designed for open circuit and speed controlled hydraulic applications. It has been designed using the advantages of high-speed and low-noise performance of internal gear pump design with the reliability, precision and pressure capacity of an axial piston pump. Hence, the AXP line of pumps provides an ideal balance for equipment that demands hydraulic power, accurate controls and reliable performance.

This pump operates on the swash plate concept. The pistons are placed axially in relation to the drive shaft in the rotary group. With the turning of the drive shaft by the electric motor, the pistons will reciprocate owing to the fixed angle position of the swash plate. Hydraulic fluid gets into the expanding chambers of the pistons from the suction side and out of the contracting chambers from the pressure side.

One important thing about the Moog AXP pump is that the AXP pump comes with a slipper free design. Most axial piston pumps have the slipper between the pistons and the swash plate. However, this slipper free design by the Moog Company makes the AXP pump insensitive to suction pressure, makes it resistant to cavitations, and less prone to contamination because it has fewer components inside. This also makes the AXP pump dependable, hydraulically efficient and effective in cooling.

The Moog AXP pump comes in frame sizes of 33, 63 and 100. From the current product catalogues, the geometrical displacement for the AXP pumps ranges from 20, 25, 33, 40, 50, 63, 80 and 100 cm³/rev. The maximum continuous operating pressure for this pump is 350 bar, and the maximum peak operating pressure is 380 bar. The maximum speed depends on the selected displacement and the speed goes up to 4,400 rpm.
