Nachi PHV Track Drive Hydraulic Motor is a two-speed travel motor which is mainly designed for mini excavators and compact crawler construction equipment. The hydraulic motor, valves, and reduction gears are incorporated into one single housing, thus allowing the unit to help manufacturers build a compact undercarriage without using separate drive components.
Drive mechanisms on mini excavators require high torque capacity to move over difficult terrain and climb slopes as well as withstand resistance. However, there is also a need for the drive to be capable of high speeds during movement from one working site to another. The PHV range meets both needs by utilizing a two-speed hydraulic axial piston motor system.
The hydraulic pressure is transferred to the motor where it exerts its force on the pistons that are mounted in circles around the rotating assembly. The motion caused by the pistons results in a rotation force, which is further transferred through the planetary reduction gear. The gear box lowers the speed of rotation and amplifies the torque of the output force.
The PHV line continues to evolve from Nachi to provide better power density and compactness. In its 2026 environmental report, PHV-2B-25C becomes a travel motor of mini excavator. This new product is shorter and lighter than the previous one of PHV-2B-20A/B, but it provides more output torque.
