Moog RKP-D Radial Piston Hydraulic Pump is a variable-displacement pump that features electro-hydraulic, digital control and is designed for industrial open-circuit hydraulic systems. The pump has been created by using proven mechanics of the Moog RKP pump along with a servo-proportional pilot valve, digital electronics onboard and fieldbus interface.
The operation of RKP-D is based on radial piston pump technology. Pistons are placed radially on the drive shaft and interact with the stroke ring which can be adjusted. When the drive shaft and cylinder block rotate, the distance between them changes, which makes pistons move inside and out. Such motion results in drawing hydraulic fluid from the outside of the pump into it and delivering pressurized oil to the hydraulic system. Adjustment of the stroke ring regulates the stroke of pistons and thus regulates pump displacement.
Displacement capacity of the pump is offered by Moog in 19, 32, 45, 63, 80, 140 and 250 cm³/rev. The pump can be obtained in medium-pressure and high-pressure options. The medium-pressure pumps in displacement 19, 32, 45, 63, 80 and 140 have a capability of working at maximum operating pressures up to 280 bar. High-pressure pumps in displacement 19, 32, 63, 80, 140 and 250 have a possibility of operating at maximum operating pressures up to 350 bar. According to the chosen displacement, maximum operating speed varies between about 1,850 – 2,900 rpm.
The important aspect of RKP-D pump is that it has a servo-proportional pilot valve with digital onboard electronics. This system ensures closed-loop control of pressure and flow performance of the pump. The use of digital process allows providing fast dynamics and higher control accuracy, which is essential in case of pressure changing, sequence operations and high-production cycle equipment.
