Eaton Vickers PVE12 Hydraulic Pump provides the capacity for controlling hydraulic flow in an open-circuit system. This is a variable-displacement pump whose geometric displacement capacity is approximately 25.2 cm³ per revolution and that operates at maximum pressure of 210 bar.
This PVE12 pump controls its displacement based on the requirement of the hydraulic circuit. The pump's control system manipulates the swashplate to increase or decrease the displacement capacity. When there is less need for the hydraulic flow or when the required pressure is reached, the pump decreases its displacement capacity. This will prevent wastage of power and will maintain the hydraulic oil temperature.
This small size makes the pump applicable in situations where space and weight are critical factors. Some of the application areas of the pump are agriculture equipment, construction machines, material handling, utility vehicle and industrial hydraulic power packs. This suitability depends on the requirement of the pressure, flow rate and pump specifications.
The Eaton Vickers PVE12 is available with various control settings for pressure, flow, and load sensing. Configurations of the PVE12 can also differ in shaft type, mounting flange, port location, rotation direction, and through-drive design. In addition, a through-drive PVE12 can accommodate an extra hydraulic pump; thus, it becomes possible for the machine manufacturer to manage several hydraulic functions with one drive mechanism.
A full identification code is very important in choosing the correct replacement. Two models of PVE12 can be characterized by similar displacement but differ in controls, shafts, or dimensions of installation. An improper model will result in poor system reaction, mounting issues, pressure fluctuations, and accelerated component deterioration.
Possible signs of pump wear are low output, slow hydraulic functions, unstable pressure, noise, heating, and case drain leakage. These signs can be caused by contaminated oil, inadequate suction flow, improper viscosity of hydraulic fluid, or internal damages. Technicians must examine the rotating assembly, cylinder block, valve plate, pistons, swashplate, bearings, seals, and control assembly.
