Danfoss Series 40 Variable Axial Piston Motors is constructed with a parallel axial piston/slipper design and a tiltable swashplate. These motors are built with a rigid, cast iron housing and are compact, making them easy to install in limited-space situations. Danfoss Series 40 variable motors provide high-capacity bearings, that is, a special dust seal for fan drives, and three end cap options for easy integration.

Danfoss Series 40 motors are available in multiple sizes ranging from 35 cm3 to 46 cm3 [2.14 in3 to 2.80 in3] and are rated for loads up to 345 bar [5,000 psi]. The M35, M44, and M46 motor units are members of the Series 40 family of variable-displacement motors. The M35 and M44 variable motors come with direct displacement control and a trunnion-style swashplate. M46 variable motors use a two-position hydraulic servo control and a cradle swashplate construction.

These motors are used in various applications, including agriculture, construction, road building, material handling, forestry, and turf care. Series 40 motors featured high output speed capabilities and proven reliability and performance. These motors can be applied together or combined with other products in a system to transfer and control hydraulic power.
